"If there's a book you really want to read, but it hasn'tbeen written yet, then you must write it."-Toni Morrison

I came across this quotation while searching for an author of a book that I had just finished reading. I think it's brilliant. My love affair with books became known to me when I realized I would rather read a book for hours, ignoring everything around me and immersing myself in the world on the pages.
Living on an island with limited activities for an adventurous girl encouraged me to find the worlds hidden in the delicate pages of books stacked high on library shelves. A favorite past time was to browse the spines of various collections and when an interesting image popped through the never ending row of books I would pick it up. I know how the saying goes about don't judge a book by its cover, but does the spine count? I've found many a surprising story within those covers that I randomly browsed every so often. Don't get me wrong, I've had my share of dull ones and it's funny how those spines still linger on the outskirts of my memory whenever I would go back to that particular section in the library.
I started frequenting one section of books and by then end of one particular summer I had read almost every book in that genre. My dad was a comic geek growing up so it was almost in my blood to love the fantastical worlds and characters that leaped from the pages of wizards, mutants, and persons with abnormal powers. I had found my niche and one day I would write a book that encompassed what I loved about those characters.
To this day, I still frequent those same sections in book stores, trying to find the next great fantasy novel for me to delve into. I've found one that I could definitely dive into over and over again.
